We arrived in Portugal early in the morning. Sore from sleeping on the most uncomfortable seats Ryanair could offer we then saw Faro. Our hearts dropped as we saw the disappointing buildings that surrounded the bus station. The marina was nice but that was the extent of it. However an 1 hour 30 minute bus ride later and we arrived at the resort, Albufeira. Now this was a beautiful place. 18 degrees and to top it off we were staying in a great hotel for only 23 pounds a night. Albufeira offered a relaxing time in the sun. Beach volleyball and long lunches of piri piri chicken were the perfect way to spend the days, while the games room offered some evening entertainment.
The only downside to our time in Portugal was the earthquake that shock us in room 524 (5 stands for fifth floor). Albufeira was a little of a ghost town during December, although it sure beats being in northern Europe in terms of weather at this time of the year. After 5 days there though it was time to move on to our next destination and whatever that brings.
