Villa d Alme
We had an early rise as we headed from Rome to Bergamo, an airport 50 km north of Milan. Once there we negotiated the local buses to arrive at Villa d Alme our location over new years. This tiny little Italian village is home to the Hotel Ventolosa where our spacious room overlooked snow capped mountains. On New Year’s Eve we had a day in Milan, which has to be the most expensive city we have visited. The thing that strikes you about Milan is its glorious cathedral, this was wonderful to visit and is a must do on any tourists list. However as day turned to night it was time to head back to our rural paradise. Dinner that night consisted of foccacia bread from the bakery, fruit from the greengrocer and pizza from the local pizzeria. It was a feast fit for kings on this special night and getting to head into the kitchen to see the pizza cooked in the traditional wood fire oven was a real thrill. We really couldn’t imagine a more perfect place to see in 2010 and Prue’s night was made when 80’s tunes were played on TV.
Regrettably after a slow start the next morning it was off to the airport to complete the final leg of our European vacation, Dusseldorf, Germany.
